Greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural production represented approximately 16% of total national emissions in 2005, a proportion higher than that of any other OECD country apart from New Zealand. This estimate derives from Australia's National Greenhouse Accounts.

Managing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions

The Australian Government is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors, including agriculture, and recognises the need to address this issue in partnership with the agriculture industry.
