ABOUT GREENHOUSE CHALLENGE PLUS

Through Greenhouse Challenge Plus, government and industry, together, are leading the challenge against climate change.

Greenhouse Challenge Plus enables Australian companies to form working partnerships with the Australian Government to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. That’s a big plus for business and for all Australians.

The programme builds on the success of Greenhouse Challenge (established in 1995), integrating the Generator Efficiency Standards and the Greenhouse Friendly™ initiative into a single industry programme. The programme is managed by the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.

Greenhouse Challenge Plus is designed to:
reduce greenhouse gas emissions
PLUS
accelerate the uptake of energy efficiency
PLUS
integrate greenhouse issues into business decision-making
PLUS
provide more consistent reporting of greenhouse gas emissions levels.

Industry-Government Greenhouse Partnership Committee

The Industry-Government Greenhouse Partnership Committee was set up in to provide a forum for consultation on the key issues impacting on Greenhouse Challenge Plus.

Recognising that the Greenhouse Challenge arose from the joint initiative of industry and government, the purpose of the Industry-Government Greenhouse Partnership Committee is to ensure the effective development and operation of the Greenhouse Challenge Plus programme.
