A discussion paper on Abatement Incentives Prior to the Commencement of the Australian Emissions Trading Scheme was released for comment on 24 September 2007.
The paper put forward a number of proposals relating to incentives for firms to pursue abatement of greenhouse gas emissions in the period leading up to the commencement of the emissions trading scheme.
This paper does not represent Government policy and does not commit the Australian Government to any particular proposal. Proposals contained in this paper were for discussion only.
Submissions responding to the discussion paper closed on 1 December 2007. The submissions will be considered by the Government in its design of an emissions trading scheme.
The Department of Climate Change thanks the many organisations and individuals who responded to the call for submissions. Feedback provided in submissions will be considered by the Government in its design of an emissions trading scheme. Submissions can be accessed below.
