Approving your abatement project
Steps to becoming an abatement provider
The process for approving an abatement project under Greenhouse Friendly™ is:
| Step 1: | Prepare and submit an Eligibility Statement for your proposed abatement project and discuss this with the Australian Greenhouse Office. |
|---|---|
| Step 2: | Prepare an Emission/Abatement Study for your project. |
| Step 3: | Develop a Project Monitoring Plan to measure the ongoing greenhouse gas abatement generated from your project. |
| Step 4: | Have your Eligibility Statement, Emission/Abatement Study and Project Monitoring Plan independently verified. |
| Step 5: | Submit your application to the Australian Greenhouse Office - this will include:
|
| Step 6: | The Greenhouse Friendly™ Administrator reviews documentation and makes a recommendation to the Australian Greenhouse Office. |
| Step 7: | The Australian Greenhouse Office makes a decision on your application. If you are successful, you will enter into a Deed of Approval which enables you to start generating and selling Greenhouse Friendly™ approved abatement. |
| Step 8: | Maintain Greenhouse Friendly™ approval - this includes updating your Emission/Abatement Study and Project Monitoring Plan (as required) and submitting an annual report to the Australian Greenhouse Office. |
| Step 9: | Re-approval after five years. If your project continues to meet the Greenhouse Friendly™ eligibility requirements, you may enter into a new Deed of Approval or extend your existing one. |
