- Council is retrofitting the lighting in the existing administration building, east wing. The new Council building is incorporating energy efficiency and sustainable design. Council is currently buying green power. Logan Waste has installed a solar powered leachate pump at the Tip, the new waste administration building is sustainably designed and energy efficient, they have a2MW co-gen plant on-site, have reduced 70 per cent of energy bill from introducing timers to light switches in the old building, have a recycling market which reduces waste to landfill. Logan water are buying green power and are using energy more efficiently. One onsite vehicle is electric and are upgrading plant. Council is developing a Greenhouse and Local Energy Action Plan.
Future greenhouse abatement actions
- Further energy reductions through upgrading, and retrofitting introduced by Logan Water, and Logan Waste. Further community education. Being involved in the ecoBiz program. The development of the Greenhouse and Local Energy Action Plan is currently taking place and a number of measures are detailed under the plan.
