Redland Shire Council
Redland Shire Council is committed to the Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) Australia program. This commitment is demonstrated by the work carried out by our officers and the many actions which have been successfully implemented in the past. It is also pleasing to see that we are being recognised for many of our innovative projects such as the Redlands ecoBiz program and the recently launched Point of Sale Extension program. We have also provided financial commitment to the future rollout of energy effciency measure by the creation of an energy saving reinvestment program.
We firmly believe that we have a responsibility to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions so that we do not prejudice the economic, environmental or social development of future generations.
A word from the Mayor
Actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Community
Council has prepared an education program which is currently being rolled out within Redlands. Information on how to save money and energy in homes will be displayed at libraries and customer service centres. In addition to this, Redland Shire Council is developing a Point of Sale Extension Program with a local retailer to provide information to customers in store about saving money and energy in the home. This program will save Council’s resources by the development of public-private partnerships.
