Abstract

Land Use Change emissions constitute a significant component of Australia's greenhouse gas emissions profile. Prior to the development of the NCAS, Australia's NGGI used crude default values to estimate emissions due to Land Use Change.

This fact sheet summarises the initial resource inventories, field studies, modelling and extensive multi-temporal remote sensing methods developed and assembled by the NCAS program for estimating Australia's Land Use Change emissions. These accounting methods fully replace the data and methods previously used in the preparation of the Land Use Change emissions estimates reported in Australia's NGGI and allow Australia to meet international good-practice requirements.
