The objectives of this study were to:
i. Review rates of decomposition of litter and its determining factors for foliage, bark litter and deadwood material from either eucalypt or pine forests in climatic regions typical of those found in Australia;
ii. Use collated data to calibrate and validate the empirical CAMFor sub-model for predicting decomposition of litter in FullCAM;
iii. Use collated data to calibrate and validate the GENDEC sub-model of litter decomposition within FullCAM; and
iv. Calibrate the Roth-C sub-model using data for above-ground biomass, litterfall, litter mass, and pools of soil C (using a calibrated fractionated scheme), for selected experimental sites where a comprehensive set of litter and soil samples were available for a period of at least 10 years.
